Girly Outdoor Movie Night Birthday Party

Anyone who knows me know that I love to throw a party. Part of the fun for me is thinking of a theme and putting it together. It is all in the details! I must have been an event planner in my last life.

My daughter wanted an outdoor movie for her 8th birthday. I was excited to plan a boho chic outdoor movie night. I did not want the traditional red, white, gold and black movie night. I wanted something more girly.

I laid out some blankets with large furry pillows and some poufs in order to separate the groups as they watched the movie.

I added a popcorn bar with raisinets, gummy rings, and sour gummies. The popcorn bar of course had a concession area with full size candy.

This was of course a huge hit with the kids and the adults. Luckily I had an air popper and was able to quickly refill the popcorn.

Picking a movie was a challenge but we watched Annie the 2014 version and it was a success. Always hard to find something to hold all the kids attentions and something they will all enjoy. I used the website www.kidsinmind.com in order to verify that the movie was appropriate for the kids at the party. We also considered Troop Beverly Hills, Grease, Back to the Beach, Night at the Museum, Kicking and Screaming, Matilda, Parent Trap, and Jumanji. I showed my daughter a few trailers and let her pick the movie.

I got mac and cheese and served them in individual ramekins for each of the kids. We had the cutest popcorn cupcakes, the most perfect sugar cookies individually wrapped, and mini tarts.

I had bubble machines running through out the party before dark. The kids loved running through them and playing with them and they definitely added to the theme. The little pineapple bubble machine I found at Target were so adorable, how could I not get them?

We also had metallic tattoos and photo booth props that were also a hit. In addition we had a limbo contest with the kids before the movie started. The kids loved it!
